Today, Brenda Krueger, project manager, shares her thoughts after attending AEA’s evaluation conference in Washington DC:
Best Session Attended: I attended “Color Scripting: Adapting a Disney-Pixar Tool for Use in Evaluation”, by Wendy Tackett, Ph.D. I really enjoyed the session because of the high energy of the presenter and getting to explore a new concept. We use data visualization all of the time at the ARC, but I had never heard of “color scripting”. It was intriguing to explore a new tool. A couple of examples of ways that color scripting can be used include: to evaluate crowd engagement and enthusiasm to identify speaker impact or to understand participant readiness to engage with new material. I’m excited for the opportunity to try color scripting in my evaluation projects.
Favorite DC Experience: The Twilight Tour of Washington D.C. was incredible. This was a wonderful way to see the major memorials and landmarks in the beautiful evening lights. We were able to see the Capitol, White House, Jefferson & Lincoln Memorial, Korean & Vietnam Memorial, and many others in a 3-hour timeframe. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and witty and added to the enjoyment of the experience. This is a MUST DO for Washington D.C.
